  • Honoring the Martyrs

Honoring the Martyrs November 23, 2025 Honoring the Martyrs Sermon Series: Honoring the Martyrs Download PDF Revelation 6:9-11 9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been. Main Idea THE MARTYRS AREN’T REJECTED BY GOD; THEY ARE RECEIVED BY HIM. Outline THE MARTYRS WERE PROVEN FAITHFUL (V9) THE MARTYRS WILL SEE JUSTICE (V10) THE MARTYRS HAVE RECEIVED GLORY (V11) Discussion Questions THE MARTYRS WERE PROVEN FAITHFUL (V9) In verse 9, what does it mean that the martyrs were killed “for the word of God and for the witness they had borne”? What does this reveal about what God values in His servants? Why is faithfulness—especially under pressure or persecution—so significant in God’s eyes? How does the faithfulness of the martyrs challenge our understanding of what it means to follow Jesus? In what areas of your life is God calling you to deeper faithfulness right now? How can you cultivate a stronger witness for Christ in a culture that may not openly persecute but often pressures us toward compromise? THE MARTYRS WILL SEE JUSTICE (V10) Why do the martyrs cry out, “How long, O Lord?” What does this tell us about their desire for justice? How does their prayer show both honesty and submission to God’s timing? Why is it difficult for Christians today to wait for God’s justice rather than seeking vengeance or becoming cynical? In what ways does the promise of divine justice shape how we respond to injustice in our world? What injustices in your own life—or in our society—tempt you to doubt God’s timing? How can the church today stand with persecuted believers around the world and faithfully pray, “How long, O Lord?” THE MARTYRS HAVE RECEIVED GLORY (V11) What is the significance of the white robe given to the martyrs? How does this image reflect God’s honor, acceptance, and vindication of His people? How does remembering the glory awaiting believers strengthen us during present trials? What does this verse teach us about God’s care for those who suffer for His name? As we enter Thanksgiving Week, how does the example of the martyrs stir gratitude in your own heart for what Christ has secured for you? Looking Forward In the upcoming days and weeks, what would it look like this week to take one more step towards living out your faith in a way that doesn’t avoid persecution? Prayer Focus Pray for… A heart that treasures God’s Word as deeply as the martyrs did. The courage to bear faithful witness to Christ in every circumstance. Steadfastness in areas where you are tempted to compromise. Grace to live boldly for Christ even when obedience is costly. A deeper awareness of believers today who are suffering for their faith. Confidence in God’s perfect timing when you are waiting for justice or resolution. A heart that cries out honestly to God without losing faith in His goodness. Believers around the world who are enduring injustice, oppression, or persecution. Patience to resist taking vengeance into your own hands. A compassionate church that stands with and advocates for persecuted Christians. Gratitude during Thanksgiving Week for the glory secured for you through Jesus. Strength to endure present trials with confidence in God’s ultimate justice and reward. A deeper longing for heaven and a greater love for Christ’s appearing. Growth in faithfulness, endurance, and hope like those who laid down their lives for Christ.

  • Fulfill Commitment

Fulfill Commitment October 27, 2024 Fulfill Commitment Sermon Series: Take Courage Download PDF 2 Chronicles 15:16-19 Main Idea In a world turning from Him, God calls us to fulfill our commitments to Him! Outline 1. We go all the way (vv16-17) 2. We give all to God (vv18-19) Discussion Questions Reflect on Colossians 3:23, which encourages us to work heartily as if for the Lord. How does this verse shape your understanding of fulfilling commitments in everyday life? Share an example of a commitment in your life that you see as part of your faith journey. How does God strengthen you to keep this commitment? Thomas Watson, a well-known Puritan preacher and writer from the 17th century, said, “We have sinned with our fathers; let us not be like them, but let us repent of our repentance. Hypocrites repent that they may sin no more, and that they may sin more. True repentance begins in the love of God, and ends in the hatred of sin.” What lesson can we learn from King Asa, not removing all the high places (or places of pagan worship)? Luke 16:10 reminds us, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” How do you see this principle applying to both small and large commitments in your life? How does fulfilling small, everyday commitments build your character and prepare you for greater responsibilities? How is God calling you to engage further with what God has called us to as a church? Looking Forward Prayer Focus

  • Waiting

Waiting October 19, 2025 Waiting Sermon Series: Nahum Download PDF Nahum 2:1-13 The Destruction of Nineveh 1 The scatterer has come up against you. Man the ramparts; watch the road; dress for battle; collect all your strength. 2 For the LORD is restoring the majesty of Jacob as the majesty of Israel, for plunderers have plundered them and ruined their branches. 3 The shield of his mighty men is red; his soldiers are clothed in scarlet. The chariots come with flashing metal on the day he musters them; the cypress spears are brandished. 4 The chariots race madly through the streets; they rush to and fro through the squares; they gleam like torches; they dart like lightning. 5 He remembers his officers; they stumble as they go, they hasten to the wall; the siege tower is set up. 6 The river gates are opened; the palace melts away; 7 its mistress is stripped; she is carried off, her slave girls lamenting, moaning like doves and beating their breasts. 8 Nineveh is like a pool whose waters run away. “Halt! Halt!” they cry, but none turns back. 9 Plunder the silver, plunder the gold! There is no end of the treasure or of the wealth of all precious things. 10 Desolate! Desolation and ruin! Hearts melt and knees tremble; anguish is in all loins; all faces grow pale! 11 Where is the lions’ den, the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and lioness went, where his cubs were, with none to disturb? 12 The lion tore enough for his cubs and strangled prey for his lionesses; he filled his caves with preyand his dens with torn flesh. 13 Behold, I am against you, declares the LORD of hosts, and I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions. I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall no longer be heard. Main Idea God’s holiness is a warning to the wicked, but a hope to His people. Outline God Undoes Evil (Nahum 2:1-2) God Humbles Evil (Nahum 2:3-5) God Ends Evil (Nahum 2:6-13) Discussion Questions Opening Questions What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “fear of God?” How can fearing God increase our love for God? God undoes evil (Nahum 2:1-2) What is something you have expereinced God restoring? What evil in the world do you long to see God restore? God humbles evil (Nahum 2:3-5) When was a time that God humbled you? How is God humbling you right now? God ends evil (Nahum 2:6-13) What are some ways that we overestimate our own power and control like the Assyrians did? What is a warning from God you have struggled to receive? Looking Forward In the upcoming days and weeks, what is something you can commit to in leaning more into the fear of God? Prayer Focus Pray for… The people of Peace Church to always take in the fullness of Scriptures, even the hard and ignored parts. The members of your community group to be able to walk through a challenging series with grace, patience, and courage. The lost to be open to learning more about the importance of God’s wrath and hearing his warnings, turning from evil and receiving the grace of God. All Christians to hear God’s specific warnings to them as they study His Word. Pastor Ryan as he preaches through this challenging book that many struggle to understand and receive. Yourself to better understand and live in light of the truth that God’s holiness is a hope to His people.
