Theme: Americans are (mostly) a people who love their country. This is often a trait of people who attend church, but an issue of idolatry arises when Christian becomes synonymous with American, or when our allegiance to America and our political party rivals our commitment to Christ and His Church. As Christians, it is imperative that we remember our citizenship is in heaven and that our life flows from that, even as we have a love for our great country. As we guard against Christian nationalism, we must remember, the state will die, but the Church will live forever.
