This breakout explores simple, natural ways to share the gospel in everyday conversations without pressure or performance. We’ll focus on clarity, honesty, and learning to speak about Jesus in a way that feels real, not rehearsed. The Journey to True Rest with Rhonda VanPolen Join us as we trace the theme of rest through the Bible and consider how God invites us into true rest—physical and spiritual—in a world that celebrates hustle. Submission in Marriage: Oppression or Opportunity? With Jenny Baker In a culture where “submission” often feels like a loaded word, this session looks at what Ephesians 5 actually teaches, what it looks like, and how God uses it to strengthen us as individuals and as a couple. From Burden to Gift: What 3 Bible Women Teach Us About Our Work with Abigail Phillips  Work was created before the Fall as a way to reflect God and walk with Him. In this breakout, we’ll explore how Luke 10 helps us reset our posture—learning to let go of the pressure, refocus, and invite God into our work instead of rushing without Him. Walking in the Light: Confession & Community with Michaellynn Hirdes The Bible invites us to experience the beautiful gift of fellowship with God and with one another. Join us as we learn what God’s Word has to say about how a grace-filled understanding of confession can keep us walking in the light. • What More Are You Doing Than Others?

What More Are You Doing Than Others? July 5, 2026 What More Are You Doing Than Others? Sermon Series: Questions Download PDF Matthew 5:43-48 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Main Idea CHRISTIANS ARE CALLED TO A HIGHER STANDARD. Outline GOD IS GRACIOUS TO EVERYONE, SO WE SHOULD ALSO BE (VV43–45) GOD IS OUR HIGHER STANDARD, SO WE SHOULD MODEL HIM (VV46–48) Discussion Questions GOD IS GRACIOUS TO EVERYONE, SO WE SHOULD ALSO BE (VV43–45) Jesus tells His followers to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them. Why is this one of His most difficult commands? What is the difference between loving your enemies and approving of their actions? How does God demonstrate grace to both the righteous and the unrighteous? Why is it important to remember that God's common grace extends even to those who reject Him? Who is the hardest person in your life to love right now? What makes loving them so difficult? How can praying for someone who has hurt you begin to change your own heart? What would it look like to reflect God's grace toward someone you naturally want to avoid, criticize, or resent? GOD IS OUR HIGHER STANDARD, SO WE SHOULD MODEL HIM (VV46–48) Why does Jesus say there is nothing extraordinary about loving only those who love us? What do you think Jesus means when He asks, "What more are you doing than others?" How is the Christian life meant to look noticeably different from the world around us? Why is God Himself, rather than culture or other Christians, our standard for holy living? Jesus says, "You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." How should we understand that command? How does the Gospel give us hope when we realize we fall short of God's perfect standard? What are some practical ways you can imitate God's character in your home, workplace, neighborhood, or church this week? Looking Forward Jesus asks, "What more are you doing than others?" As you think about your relationships this week, what is one specific way you can show the grace, love, or forgiveness of Christ to someone who would least expect it? Prayer Focus Pray for… Pray for… A deeper appreciation of God's grace toward undeserving sinners Hearts that are willing to love even difficult people Freedom from bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness Wisdom to reflect God's character in everyday relationships Humility to recognize where we fall short of Christ's example Strength to pursue holiness instead of settling for the world's standards Courage to live differently from the culture around us Compassion for those who oppose or mistreat us The power of the Holy Spirit to make us more like Jesus Lives that clearly display the love and grace of our heavenly Father

  • Jesus is the Light of the World

Jesus is the Light of the World June 28, 2026 Jesus is the Light of the World Sermon Series: VBS Sunday Download PDF John 8:12 Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying “I am the light of the world, Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Main Idea JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD Outline WHY DO WE NEED LIGHT? BECAUSE OUR WORLD IS DARK WHO IS THE LIGHT? JESUS IS THE LIGHT WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE LIGHT? FOLLOW JESUS AND LIVE Discussion Questions WHY DO WE NEED LIGHT? BECAUSE OUR WORLD IS DARK (V12) Jesus says those who do not follow Him walk in darkness. What kinds of darkness do you see in our world today? Why do you think people often recognize the brokenness of the world more easily than the brokenness within themselves? How does the Bible describe the source of the darkness in our world? What are some ways people try to escape or cope with the darkness without turning to God? Why is it important to recognize our own need for a Savior before we can truly appreciate the Gospel? How does admitting our need for Jesus differ from simply trying to become a better person? WHO IS THE LIGHT? JESUS IS THE LIGHT (V12) Why is Jesus' statement, "I am the light of the world," such a bold claim? What does it mean that Jesus is the Light, not merely a light? How does knowing the context of the Feast of Tabernacles deepen your understanding of Jesus' words? What makes Jesus different from every other religious leader, philosophy, or worldview? How have you personally experienced Jesus bringing light into an area of darkness in your life? WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE LIGHT? FOLLOW JESUS AND LIVE (V12) Jesus doesn't simply invite people to admire the light, but to follow Him. What do you think that means practically? What is the difference between knowing about Jesus and actually following Him? Why does Jesus connect following Him with receiving "the light of life"? How does following Jesus change the way we face fear, suffering, temptation, or uncertainty? What are some distractions or competing "lights" that can pull our attention away from Christ? What is one area of your life where Jesus is calling you to trust and follow Him more fully? Looking Forward Jesus says, "Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." What is one practical step you can take this week to follow Jesus more intentionally and reflect His light to those around you? Prayer Focus Pray for… A greater awareness of our need for Jesus, the Light of the World Hearts that recognize and turn away from the darkness of sin Faith to trust Jesus as the only true source of life and salvation Gratitude that Christ entered our darkness to rescue us Courage to follow Jesus even when the world offers competing voices and false hopes Wisdom to walk in the light through daily obedience to God's Word Opportunities to reflect Christ's light to family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers Compassion for those who are still walking in spiritual darkness Boldness to share the hope of the Gospel with others Joy and confidence that because Jesus is our Light, we never walk alone and never walk in darkness forever

  • Pray With Us | Peace Church

Pray With Us Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 Billy & Erica Tjernlund Central Missionary Clearinghouse Billy and his wife are raising their three children—Evaleigh, Sevland, and Westley—while serving the people of Alaska with a heart for the Gospel. Their calling is to see churches planted for and by Alaska Native people, bringing lasting, locally led Gospel presence to communities that have long been unreached. Today, nearly 80% of Alaska’s more than 200 villages have no Gospel witness, many of them accessible only by air. To help meet this need, Billy serves through aviation and ministry leadership across the state. He pilots two airplanes to provide essential flights for multiple ministries, serves on the Board of Directors for Kokrine Hills Bible Camp, and acts as an aviation advisor for Soaring For Christ. He also teaches and preaches in local churches and hosts the Tell Your Story Alaska podcast, highlighting how God is at work in remote communities. As part of this mission, Billy is launching Ends of the Earth Aviation LLC, a business platform designed to support and sustain Gospel ministry to Alaska’s most isolated villages—helping take the hope of Christ to the ends of the earth. You can find Peace's Meal Ministry Link Here to help support Peace Church families in need Today's New or Time-Sensitive Update Praying for the Peace Church body Peace Church Praying Community, here is a new section, to be praying for the whole church community where we will focus on one key aspect of who God has called us to be as a church. This week we want to remind you of: Peace Church’s Vision: Discipleship Our Church Vision is to see the Gospel embraced and passed on for generations of Kingdom impact . In a word, Discipleship. Making disciples is every church’s calling because it is the great commission, it is at the heart of what we do. Not just sharing the good news with others but helping each other grow into mature followers of Jesus. This starts in the home, with our children. It should also occur at our workplace and on the weekend with friends. VBS was a great success and several kids came forward to pray at the end of the week. Pray that the Holy Spirit continues to work in their lives and help them think and live according to His Word. Praises Dave Lomakoski June 29 About three weeks ago a friend’s daughter, Hayley Frederick, was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident. Many health care professionals did not think she would survive. Although Hayley has undergone numerous surgeries to repair internal injuries, broken vertebrae, compound fractures, shattered pelvis, etc, Hayley has been improving miraculously. It looks like she is still on a long road to recovery, but in speaking with her father, Pat, he is certain God has answered our prayers. VBS June 26 Praise the Lord for a successful VBS week. 571 kids heard the truth about who Jesus is — promised, perfect, powerful, proven, and God's plan for forgiveness. "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." — John 8:12 Darlene and Ernie DeGroote June 18 We want to thank everyone who held our sweet 7 yr old great granddaughter, Hadley in your prayers yesterday. The Lord answered those prayers and everything is repaired. It was much worse than they had anticipated as she had two holes in her heart that were repaired, instead of one, and they said there was a 95% chance that she would’ve had a heart attack or a stroke. All praise to our powerful God who loves and cares and answers. Prayers. Sincerely, Darlene and Ernie DeGroote. Physical needs Randall and Karen Olson June 26 Karen has been diagnosed with colon cancer and needs to be lifted before the Father for peace, comfort, healing, and most of all, to remain strong and growing in her faith. Paige and Jacob Schreier June 25 Prayer for Hannah, Paige’s surgical recovery, my Dad who’s lost two siblings recently and encouragement for spiritual leadership (for all us dads really). Bill Hop June 29 Update Bill will be having surgery on Wednesday to reconstruct his heel. Prayers for a successful surgery. (Original Request - June 22) Be in prayer for Bill Hop, who runs our Visitation Team, his wife Muriel just informed us that he lost consciousness while driving alone. Muriel says Head injury, 2 broken bones in his neck, and multiple broken bones on right side of body head to toe. (June 27) Bill had successful spinal surgery and successful surgery on his collar bone. Continued prayers for Bill as he continues to need surgeries to set the broken bones. Amber Messer June 22 My dad, Joel O’Connell, just got diagnosed with stage four cancer in his gallbladder, liver and abdomen. Chemo will start this week or next. Will Smith Update June 29 I am asking again for your prayers. Stacy will need surgery again to remove more cancer found this week. Prayers were uplifting for us last time. (Original Request June 22) Thank you for keeping Stacy and our family in your prayers. It seems each week she faces health issues. Our fight will be our new normal. It is powerful to know we are not alone in prayer. Brandy Hanna June 15 Please pray for my niece and her husband, Ben and Maddy, as their baby boy, RJ, was born June 12 at 25 weeks. He is currently in the NICU at HDVCH. He was 2 lbs 2 oz at birth. Justin Emelander June 15 Our basement flooded from Thursday night's storms. We are going through the restoration process now, and it's been a big adjustment for our family. Additionally, it looks like our insurance is only going to be enough to cover the restoration, not the repairs. We need prayer to help my wife, our kids, and I to get through these adjustments, as well as to trust in God that we will find a way to afford the repairs costs out of pocket. Tarah Sproul Update May 20 Tarah is now receiving hospice care. Pray for lack of pain, for God's presence and comfort during this time as she faces each new day.. David Minnaard Update June 27 Please pray for healing as he suffered a stroke while waiting for a medical consult on new cancer treatment strategies. Praise the Lord that the stroke did not result in any serious long term issues. (Original Request May 8) My brother Rick, after esophageal cancer treatment now has a mass in his liver suspected to be similar. How does understanding that we are part of a New Covenant through Jesus Christ (Hebrews 8:6) influence your daily walk with God? What are practical ways you can renew or deepen your commitment to live faithfully within the covenant of grace God offers? Is there an area of your life where you sense God is calling you to “make a covenant” or recommit yourself to Him, such as a new direction in ministry, personal holiness, or community involvement? What steps can you take this week to live out the commitments you’ve made to God in your personal covenant with Him? Looking Forward Prayer Focus
