Honoring the Martyrs November 23, 2025 Honoring the Martyrs Sermon Series: Standalone Download PDF Revelation 6:9-11 9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been. Main Idea THE MARTYRS AREN’T REJECTED BY GOD; THEY ARE RECEIVED BY HIM. Main Idea We sing to God because He is good. Outline Sing for joy to the Lord (1) Sing from thankfulness to the Lord (2-3) Sing with love to the Lord (4-5) Discussion Questions SING FOR JOY TO THE LORD (PSALM 33:1) What does it mean to “sing for joy to the Lord”? How is this different from simply singing about Him? The verse says praise is “fitting for the upright.” Why do you think praise is described as fitting or appropriate? When is it hardest for you to sing joyfully to God, and what helps you to do it anyway? SING FROM THANKFULNESS TO THE LORD (PSALM 33:2-3) These verses mention using instruments and skill in worship. What does this teach us about giving our best to God in praise? How can thankfulness shape the way we approach worship—both privately and together as a church? What’s a recent example of something God has done that makes you want to sing to Him with gratitude? SING WITH LOVE TO THE LORD (PSALM 33:4-5) Verses 4–5 describe God’s character—His truth, faithfulness, righteousness, and love. Which of these traits stands out most to you, and why? From Rejected to Restored March 16, 2025 From Rejected to Restored Sermon Series: The Reversal Download PDF John 5:1-18 Main Idea The Gospel brings us from rejected to restored Outline Christ sees you when you are unnoticed (vv1-9) when you are unknowing (vv9-15) when you are unable (vv16-18) Discussion Questions Christ sees you when you are unnoticed (John 5:1-9) The passage describes a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years, lying by the pool of Bethesda, largely unnoticed by others. How does it make you feel knowing that Jesus notices those whom society often overlooks? In what ways have you experienced Jesus noticing you during times when you felt unnoticed or insignificant? Christ sees you when you are unknowing (John 5:9-15) After healing the man, Jesus later finds him in the temple and advises him to sin no more. How does this interaction demonstrate Jesus’ concern for both our physical and spiritual well-being? Are there areas in your life where you feel spiritually unknowing or uncertain? How can you seek Jesus’ guidance and wisdom in these areas? Christ sees you when you are unable (John 5:16-18) The healed man was unable to help himself into the healing waters, yet Jesus intervened. How does this illustrate Jesus’ power to assist us in our helplessness? Can you share a time when you felt unable to overcome a challenge, and Jesus provided the strength or solution you needed? Sarah Peace Kids Coordinator (Elementary) Sarah Grasman Sarah has been attending Peace since early 2021 and joined the staff later that same year. Originally from Portage, Michigan, she has been married to her husband Mike since 2004. They have three children: Luke, Avery, and Isaac, who attend school in Caledonia and play on several sports teams. Mike works in product development at UFP Industries. Sarah enjoys gardening and owns a floral design business. As a family, they love being outdoors, biking, camping, and taking trips to the beach. Her favorite Bible verses are Philippians 2:14-16. Stephanie Custodian Stephanie Boomsma Stephanie has been attending Peace since 2015 and has been on staff since 2017. Originally from Dutton, Michigan, she is married to Jason, an electrician with Buist Electric. They have a son and a daughter, and as a family, they enjoy camping trips to the UP and participating in 4H at the Barry County fair. In her free time, Stephanie loves outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, and hiking with her family and dog, and she enjoys caring for their small hobby farm animals. A Bible verse that has always resonated with her is Deuteronomy 33:27: "The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms." Contact Facilities Department
